West Country Windsor Chair

Ash & Elm Windsor Chair, 18th Century (Circa 1760-1790).

High back three-part arm Windsor chair, central thick section stepped between the arms and carved arm supports. Shaped seat, heavy turned single ring and concave turned front legs with plain elliptical turned rear. H-form stretcher. Later coats of black varnish has patina to original ash and elm.

Three-part arm structure is a defining feature of West Country chairs.
